Since the announcement of the new policy, I have received numerous comments about the new policy from our members. Here are just a few:
"This seems like another situation where they way in which the state spends their money is ill-advised. Pharmacies are probably one of the most cost-effective means to get patients vaccinated, yet they want to permanently exclude us, leading to increased costs for the system. I think we should try to leave a door open for future immunizing."
"I think this is ludicrous. I would ask the legislators why it is okay for pharmacists to immunize non-Medicaid patients, but not Medicaid patients? We go through validated training to immunize patients, which is the same type of training that nurses get. Quite frankly I think it is better because when a pharmacist has immunized me it didn't hurt near as much as when nurses have done it."
